To: Our Valued Customers 9 December 2009
On behalf of myself and the staff of Bama Lanes, I want to take a few minutes to wish each of you Happy Holidays and safe travel to all of you as you enjoy this joyous time of year with family and friends near and far. As we busy ourselves with shopping, cooking, and all the glitter and sounds of the festivities of the season, let’s not forget the true spirit and reason for the season.
With the 2009/2010 fall/winter leagues at the halfway point, the center is making plans for the 2010 summer leagues as well as the 2010/2011 fall leagues. The summer schedule should be available by the end of March. Make your plans now to join one of our nightly leagues.
With the start of the summer league there will be some policy changes for the center. These changes will improve the overall atmosphere of our center and should introduce new customers to the sport of bowling. Hopefully, these new customers will allow our leagues to grow.
One of the main positive changes that will take effect 1 June 2010 will be a no smoking policy. I am sure the many bowlers that do smoke are thinking this cannot be positive but it will be for the growth of our sport. Many phone calls are received regularly by people wanting to bring their youth groups, church groups, wanting to have birthday parties, office gatherings, or other types of groups to an exciting, fun, and non smoking facility. Making this change to our facility will enable us to secure these groups, increasing the interest in bowling, which should have a domino effect for the stimulation of the economy in the area.
All is not lost for the many valued customers that smoke. Because we have separate ventilation systems we will be able to offer the lounge as a haven for you to continue to enjoy your decision to smoke. Please consider this the best solution for all parties concerned. Recent discussions by citizens of the community and city council members indicate the possibility of a city wide ban of smoking in all public venues could be on the horizon. While the motion was not accepted, the vote was very close, and a council member indicated there could be another motion for passage in the future.
I look forward to seeing each of you at the center as we roll into a new year. Until then, continue rolling those high scores.

UPDATE: 5/26/10
Due to legislation with the City of Prattville, we were forced to alter our original June 1st date. We are still committed to providing you with a smoke-free facility and our goal is to make this happen by the end of the summer.
We appreciate your continued patronage and understanding during this time.
